Dr. Bryan KeropianI have had three distinclty different dental careers. Even before graduating from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1968 I began my search for answers to my own headache pain so I might help myself and others.
Co-Director - Headache Pain Treatment Center - Valley Hospital Medical Center 1985-86 with Sion Nobel, M.D. In 1978 after ten years as a practicing professional, I attended a dental education course focusing on balancing the bite. The course, on balancing the meshing of our teeth, launched me into a whole new direction in my practice of dentistry. I began focusing on the resolution of head and neck pain. An unbalanced bite can cause muscle spasms in the face and neck. Much like the pain of menstrual muscle contraction, the muscle contraction of the face results in headaches and head/neck pain. Since then I have taken thousands of hours of education in the area of TMJ/TMD and head and neck pain. I have been fortunate to have taken courses from some of the most innovative clinical practitioners in America . "Innovative clinical practitioners" come in many flavors and I have learned from M.D.'s, osteopaths, dentists, physical therapists, chiropractors, psychologists, accupuncturists, accupressurists, nutritionists and alternative health practitioners. I have made it a point not to limit my sources for knowledge to just Dentists, or MDs or any other medical discipline. If I might be able to increase my knowledge, I'm interested! So for 25 years I enjoyed the discoveries of new techniques and new methods, increasing my effectiveness and improving my paractice. And then a gift was sent to me in 2002, a patient who had lost her job because she couldn't sleep. She was out of work for more than two years, suffering from deep depression, on numerous medications and had seen more than twelve professionals with no resoltution to her inability to sleep through the night. My years of experience with dental appliances and the physiology of the tongue, airway and breathing lead me to a course of solution that has changed my life and the lives of more than one thousands patients who have come to my office for sleep and snoring issues. Frankly, I believe is was devine intervention. Years of tedious work, years of improving the process, of working with the FDA and working with the Patent and Trademark Office led me to the most wonderful experiences I ever could have imagined as a dentist. I loved TMJ, but practicing sleep dentistry has become the richest most rewarding experience of my life. People cry in my office. They can't get over how a simple single arch appliance has changed their life or saved their marriage or made it possible to travel and be a whole person once again. And to be honest with you, it is the least physically challenging work I have ever done. I truly feel blessed. With more than 1200 patients, with four FDA approvals, with a patent and three patents pending and a fourth in drafting I have learned a very simple truth. Most night breathing problems are about the tongue and controling the tongue or inhibiting the tongue will open the airway and allow people to receive sufficient air to live a healthy life and to cease snoring 90% of the time. This is my experience, 90% of the time, we are successful stopping snoring and the truth is 100% of the time we imporve airflow, but 10% of the time we get less than a 50% improvement. I am excited about this time of my life. I feel I can help colleagues develop better practices and I can help colleagues experience the same joy that I am experiencing, changing people's lives in dynamic ways without personal pressure, stress or physical challenges. My staff and I look forward to working with you and helping you in every way we can. WE ARE ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS. WE ARE ABOUT YOUR PATIENTS ACHIEVING THIER OBJECTIVES. We are dedicated to this end. We will be with you all the way, in every way we can. Please don't hesitate to ask us for anything you need to make your patient's experience the very best and your personal success the very best. Sincerely, Dr. Keropian |
